Hello! So this is only my second attempt at blogging... we will see how it goes. JD just told me that if I am going to blog I have to be funny... because all bloggers are funny. So with that, I will do my best. (Kelsi, I could sure use some pointers oh queen of funny blog posts. :)
We went to Nauvoo with some good friends from the ward, Meghan, Bryce and Dax and it was basically amazing. Luckily it wasn't too hot. We were also there in time to see the Nauvoo Pageant which was incredible! Along with alot of other show put on by the young performing missionaries including: High Hopes and River Boats, Just plain Anna-Amanda, Nauvoo Pageant and Summer by the Mississippi...spelling??
It was great! Our hotel though was another story.. Just give us a ring if you want to know any details... We could go on for awhile. It was quite fun actually!
But Nauvoo is such an amazing place and it has a great spirit there. JD kept on saying that he wants to live there some day. We visited the homes of apostles and prophets, and my favorite part of each home was when the missionaries would bare their testimonies.. I have to say that my personal testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith was incredibly strengthened and I am so grateful for that. I am also very grateful for all that the saints went through to keep the gospel alive...it absolutely amazes me.
It was such a great experience and I can't wait to go back someday.. here are some pictures from the trip. :)
Oh never mind JD. You do NOT have to be funny. You sound more awkward than not when you try to be funny if you know what I mean :P Those are some awesome pictures McCall! I see JD's teaching Lydia how to drive already... Ya'll don't want her to grow up that fast! Miss you guys
ReplyDeleteIt was funny. Good job mate. I love the pink princess dress :)
ReplyDeleteAnd how cool you get to go to Nauvoo! Next stop... WINTER QUARTERS!
I bet it was really amazing to see all those pageants. I am a little jealous actually. You three are just cute. Cute cute cute
Great Post McCall! First a picture of her walking and then driving, wow! Oh and JD how come you look like such a scrub in all of the pictures while McCall is in a nice skirt and blouse?
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds glorious!! My friend from Springville is actually a performing missionary there! You probably saw her perform. How lucky. She's amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a good time. Loved the dress-up picture of JD and Lydia!!
Love it when you guys update! SO cute! Looks like your trip was a blast. I want to go there one day. I love the picture of you guys acting as the statue, it is adorable, thats a frame picture for sure. Also, loved the picture of Lydia and JD dressed up, you guys would be great pioneers. Lydia is getting so big- she is darling, I am seeing a lot of McCall similarities, as well as you too JD! She is adorable! Keep the posts coming, you guys are great!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I love Nauvoo. I want to live there as well. I could go there every year for family vacation. Lydia looks just like McCall. So cute. Sorry JD but I can't see her resemblance in you.She looked like George Washington's wife in the first. It took us awhile to realize it was just a simple diaper. Loved the dress up pictures. We needed one of you McCall. Great job posting McCall. Loved the reenactment of mommy with baby going to dad. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteLoved the post McCall! In reality I should be taking tips from you. Sounds like you guys had a blast. Nauvoo is a wonderful place. How about we all live there together? Also you capture Lydia at the best times. Those pictures had me laughing pretty hard.
ReplyDeleteHi McCall! I hope you don't mind me reading your blog. Lydia is adorable, by the way!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I wanted to say that I wouold LOVE to go to Nauvoo again! My Stake went on the Pioneer Trek in Wyoming last month and it was such an amazing experience! Learning more about the Pioneers in preparation for the Trek and while on the Trek was so humbling. One of my ancestors helped in building the Nauvoo Temple and worked closely with Joseph Smith. We have copies of the letters he wrote to his family talking about the Prophet and how great a man he was. Reading those really strengthened my testimony of him and what he did. I haven't been to Nauvoo since 1999, which is why I would love to go again. It will mean so much more to me now. I'm somewhat jealous that you live close enough that it's easier to go there than it would be if you lived in Utah still. ;D
